Savannah & Sundry: An Unlikely Pair
Hey, Savannah here. I’m excited to give you all a little more background about myself and our company!
If you took a look at our bios on the about page you would’ve seen that I graduated from Liberty University with a B.S. in Mathematics. Yes, You read that right- mathematics. Yet, somehow I found myself here at Sundry – a graphic and web design company. You may be thinking “well that doesn’t ‘add’ up!” (Ha! I’ve still got math jokes). Here’s how it happened:
When Jimmy Kev and I got engaged, we talked a lot about what we wanted our life to look like in the future. We both knew we didn’t the typical 9 to 5, where you come home grumpy and out of energy after a long day at “the office.” We wanted something that we could create together that used each of our different strengthens and gifts. With my left brain skills and Jimmy Kev’s right brain skills, we knew we would work well together a team. Well, we prayed and brainstormed for months about what that would actually look like and finally the idea was born– a business that helped others through design. With Jimmy Kev as the creative and branding genius and me as the “numbers-person” and project coordinator, we felt we could create business that could meet a real need and love what we do along the way!
So how does “math” come into all of this? Other than the numbers side of running a business, I use a logical and problem-solving mentality to approach each new project! While Jimmy Kev brings the creative genius to the process, I add other elements that give us a dynamic, well-rounded approach to each of our projects, which I think is a really unique part of Sundry.
If you’ve received one of our business cards or checked out the about page (sorry, plugging it again!), you would see the word “designer” under my name. Yup, I’m as surprised as you are! If you would’ve told me years ago that in 2019 I was going to have the title of “designer”, I would have been shocked. Being math gal I am, I never saw myself as creative. My mom and I always joked about the time in middle school that I got into an “advanced art” class. My sketches were terrible! But here I am today, after many wise words from Jimmy Kev and lots of articles and video tutorials, helping design websites, logos, and much more for our company!
I would encourage anyone who wants to try something different or start something new, but is afraid they won’t be good at it– you can learn anything! If you dedicate and put yourself out there, the resources are available for you to be successful and Sundry could be one of them!
Along with my love for making someone’s vision come to life through design, I really enjoy learning about how our clients started their business or non-profit and hearing the passion behind their future goals. We get so excited that Sundry can play a role in making their vision become a reality!
I truly do love what I do and can’t wait to do more of it. I’m thankful for the road that I have taken to get me here and for the love and support of our families and friends that encouraged us to take the risk and start Sundry! Thank you for reading this!
